For this reason it is not a surprise to get informed that the U.S. Agencies are infiltrating drug cartels across Mexico opening new law enforcement and intelligence outposts.
This is growing the US networks of informants have grown there as well, current and former officials . A network that helped Mexican authorities capture or kill about two dozen high-ranking and mid-level drug traffickers, and sometimes have given American counter-narcotics agents access to the top leaders of the cartels.
Political warning 1 : any action in Mexico will affect the Mexican diaspora in the USA and they will vote in 2012
Political waring 2 : this means that the USA will more and more engage not only in the Western Hemisphere but also at home. And at home the answer cannot be only based on “select targeting” but it will need a massive social engagement.
